"Quant Jobs: What the Recruiters Want" by Jim Varriale
When it comes to entry-level quant jobs, many recruiters, who are clients of mine, search for what the bulge-bracket banks are asking for.
At present there is a call for developers, with strong mathematical foundations, who also have experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning. They are particularly interested in Grads fresh out of elite programs (MIT, Stanford, Cal Tech, Mellon, Columbia, Princeton, etc. etc.). Subject matter such as comp. sci., artificial intelligence, machine learning and/or algorithmic development is very transferable to hi-frequency algorithmic development for electronic trading systems. For example, in areas such as equity stat. arb, and more recently, FX and energy derivatives trading.
